Jared says: “It actually means a lot to me to be recognized by the readers of Delaware Today magazine as Best of Delaware, Radio Personality, for the first time this year… and to be chosen by the readers… wow! what an honor! humbling and exciting. Everyday I try my best to bring excitement and entertainment and happiness to my listeners and to be recognized for it, it’s just awesome. The Best of Delaware awards are unique because although their is a critic’s choice (which by the way, my best radio friend and co-worker Dan Gaffney took home this year for best talk radio personality!), the readers are the actual listeners to what we do, and in turn who we do it for. I take stick from people on a daily basis for who I am and how I present the show, but I’m glad to know that I am reaching people. You know what they say about the minority complainers, they might be the smallest population but they bitch the loudest! I’m not so naive as to believe this will change anyone’s mind who already has misconceptions about me, but, I don’t care, they don’t listen anyway. Well, I care a little, but the support of all of you who voted means the world to me and is a small victory and a little vindication over so much evil that persists in today’s society. I try to do the right thing always, and for me, at least this year, the right thing has paid off. I vow to continue to bring to the radio my all every week I’m still on the air at WGMD, and thank all of you and my radio family that has supported me as well. Every year I see Dan win awards, and the station’s news department win awards, and finally, I feel like I don’t have anything to prove to anyone. Accept me and the show as it is, or please move on. It might sound silly to put so much stock and emotion into one “award”, but, I’ve been recognized by the radio community before, even by some of the top talkers and editors in the country, and ratings always speak for themselves, and I’m even a “star” (for 5 minutes a week!) on radio in England, but to be recognized at home and by the people of our state means the world to me. Thank You all so much and although there will still be days where I have bad days and probably days I’ll say stupid things, and days I flip out on jerks, I will still always try to do my best and give my all to each and every one of you. You rock!
